  • John is a senior fish ecologist, with more than 20 years’ experience working on various fish conservation issues in Australia, Africa, Europe and South East Asia.
  • His work encourages capacity building of local institutions through research, with an emphasis on learning and pragmatism balanced with precision and evidence for use within decision making.
  • His current main research is based on investigating the motivations and abilities of various stakeholders to successfully implement and institutionalise fisheries/irrigation-based best practice.
